What are your initial thoughts about the concept of Literacy with ICT (LwICT)?
There is alot of useful ideas and potential applications for using these concepts. Trying to apply these ideas in the various curriculum could prove to be challenging.
What implementation barriers for LwICT do you foresee at Senior Years?
The number of students in courses, the technology available,the already demanding time constraints of teaching the outcomes, the demand placed on teachers to try and measure where students fit in on the continium.
What opportunities does LwICT present for Senior Years?
Using the idea that each person in the global community needs to be responsible for the ethical and social resposibilities of using technology in an appropriate way.
What professional learning is required initially to prepare Senior Years teachers to begin to use the LwICT continuum?
Workshopsonhow to discuss acceptable use policy with schools and students, and trying to find a way to allow teachers to easily assess student knowledge .
What types of ICT do you currently have in your Senior Years classroom?
Open ended projects that allow students to use technology for research and completing projects.
What types of ICT are available to you in your school, but not in your classroom?
It is possible to get an LCD projector but ot always. I do not have any computers for student use, but even if I did there would likely not be room for them. No printer, scanner, digital camera. We need smart boards in our school.
What subjects and grades do you teach and how do you currently use ICT to enhance student learning?
I teach grades nine to eleven and courses on ICT, Keyboarding, English, , and Family Studies. For the computer classes they are in a lab, so
students are using computer programs constantly. In ELA, and Family Studies students do research and complete projects using a variety of computer programs and digital cameras.
